Our Approach
& Methodology
Currently India’s socio-economic and environmental development presents an interesting scenario. On one hand while
globalization, deregulation, free trade and large-scale industrialization ushers the hope of new employment opportunities, upliftment in living standards and infrastructure development and on the other side the emergence of various development-caused problems pose a risk of further
marginalizing the poor, generate social disintegration and environmental degradation.
This poses a veritable challenge to development managers in the government, in industries and in national and international agencies. Their roles involve the formulation of policies, planning of programmes and implementation of projects geared towards sustainable development and bottom-up models of community and environmental management. To attain these objectives, development managers require organized data, primary information and specific action oriented research findings.
As a development organization involved in social development CMSR has always believed in adopting a people centric approach. It has always given high priority to be a participant in the development process and also recognizes the importance of people’s participation at all stages of a development project. In this
endeavour, CMSR has always tried to incorporate and capture transparency, participation and equity issues in its studies and interventions.
A multi-disciplinary approach to gain insight into the existing socio-economic conditions of people and the existing environmental status has been the focal point of research at
CMSR. Further as a part of its methodology and approach CMSR has always adopted various social research techniques to ensure that all issues relating to a study are adequately addressed so that a meaningful package of deliverables is developed. For the development of a conscientious report or a tangible assessment of a typical developmental project some of the research techniques adopted at CMSR include:
-
Generation of necessary background information and support information
